RE: HP Computer is a lemon - What would you do?

Get your money back from HP, buy, a Mac, and sit back and enjoy. You'll never go back to the wintel platform.

RE: Reputation of Excel RV's - please comment

We have a 07 Excel TKE 36 ft. It has been a good unit the last 13 months of travel. The problems we have had are with the items like the toilet and refer, both made by Norcold / Tetford. The factory support is great.

RE: excel fiver

We have been living in our Excel 35 TKE for 9 months now. It seems to be very well insulated. Stays warm with just the fireplace down to 40 degrees. There have been a few thing but most have been fixed.
Jack and Donna at Excel have been good to help with all things I have asked.

RE: tred-co Freestar (NANKANG) tires on a 2009 bighorn

Don't walk, run from anything with the last name of king kang or wang. Nankang, Chun Kang, or any other junk from the country that will own us and our country soon at the rate we are giving it away. Their tires are TRASH !!! I wouldn't tow a Red Flyer wagon down the street with that junk on them.

RE: Satellite signal- am I doing it right?????

This is a pretty good disscusion, I'm going to buy a dish next week for the fiver. My question is I have Direct TV and if you hook on to a signal from a bird, what do you do about it getting the second bird?
Or don't you have to get a second signal. I was under the impression that Direct TV has to look at two sats to get all the channels.

RE: Yamaha YG2800i generator

It's just a matter of principal. They are on there way to owning us and our banking system, and a good hunk of the world as we know. I just choose not to help them do it any quicker. My little contribute!

I would think that one of the best things is at least it sends the money to Japan, not to CHINA!! I wish it was made here, but it is not.

Yamaha YG2800i generator

Any one out there using this unit ? Is it too loud ? 60 to 68 DB. I like the idea of the little extra juice over the Yamaha 2400, but I know that it is a quiet unit, both are inverter units.

I started this thread, and I still don't have a good answer, unless I wanted to write a doctoral thesis on the vector victor of inductive motors ! LAYMAN'S TERMS !

RE: Sticky Dump Valves

I had the same problem with my 07 fiver, I finally unbolted the valves pulled them out and low and behold here was a 15 in. piece of red water line that was put in the black tank at the factory. Nice huh!
Replaced the valves and put electric motors on the dumps. Works great!

AutoFormers Good or Bad for the park ?

I'm currently staying at a park that forbids the use of any autoformers. Why ? I can't believe that they suck down all your neighbors power as they say. Can any one out there with a electrically back ground explain, in layman's terms, if these are detrimental to the parks, or is it as I believe. It may actually help with the electric load of the RV park.:h

Between the stupidist name in RVing, and the lousy air, it would make a good anchor for a cruise ship.

RE: Dodge Automatic Transmission

Just for comparison, i pull a Excel 35 ft. 16500 lb. with a 06 Dodge Dually, auto, 3:73 gears. and a chip.
The tranny is very robust, with the exception of the torque converter. it is a loose piece of junk, way under engineered, and can heat tranny oil faster than a nuclear reactor ! Above 25 mph the thing will totally lock up, if you have it in 2nd. But climb a 8 to 10 % grade into one of those way back RV parks, at 10 to 15 mph and you will hit 270 degrees on the tranny oil in minutes. Mine's getting a custom converter, valve body, strut and billet input, about $2500.

RE: Dodge vs Chevrolet diesel

The other poster was right when he said these are all proven units. What he should have said was that some have the better motor, some the better body/suspension combo. None have it all. I have a rule of thumb when you look at new trucks, if you open the hood and cannot see the ground, walk away. There is so much******under the hood of the Fords and the Chevy there almost impossible to work on. My neighbor has a 07 Ford 6.4 double tubo motor. This is his second one and there is the same problem. Apparently there is a major leak with the motor and they have to pull the whole front end off the truck to fix. 6 to 7 weeks to fix. This is the second new truck, same problem! Get the Dodge. Great motor, average truck, but it will hold together!

Customer Service at Verizon

I have a EVDO Verizon card in my Mac. The coverage is OK here in San Diego, thats about all. Verizon seems to drop more calls in this area, wether on a cell phone, or through the air card. You have to reconnect every 10 to 30 minutes SUCKS. Now lets move on to all those guys in your network !Now lets move on to all those guys in your network ! Especially the moron in the bucket ! I talked to CS for 73 min. They dropped the call three times. I went through four robot answering and routing devices, three supervisors, two disconnects, and God knows how many techs who had a incredible knowledge base of near ZERO. Two of them didn't know Verizon even sold a EVDO card! This went way beyond stupid and inept. Now I called on a Sat. night, maybe this is the B-Team tech night. I'm at my wits end dealing with this outfit !!! Is this run of the mill ? Or is the company just all hype and hot air from what you see on their commercials ?:M
